The Value Of The Bible

The Bible is the most valuable, useful and versatile book in the world. No mortal man can overestimate the value of the Bible. We can only scratch the surface of the value of the Bible.

Psalms 138:2: I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God Himself gives high praise to His Word and we should all make the best use of it we can.

British Family Bible on Psalms 138:2: God had done honour to his word beyond all that had ever been said or imagined of Him.

Mudge*s paraphrase: For thou hast magnified thy name and thy word above all things.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown: (His word) has exceeded all other manifestations of Himself . . .

Treasury of David: The word of promise made to David was in his eyes more glorious than all else that he had seen of the Most High.

Annotated Bible Notes: So great are God*s promises, and so faithful and complete is His performance of them, as even to surpass the expectations which the greatness of His name has excited.

Thomas Scott: The accomplishment of the promises which God had made to David, notwithstanding all opposition and difficulties, peculiarly honoured his word of grace and truth. In like manner, that display of his glory which is made by his holy word, and the salvation there revealed, exceeds, and as it were eclipses, the glory of all his other works.

The Bible is to study, to make us approved unto God, to make us workers for God and to keep us from being ashamed.

2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
